What do I need to bring? Absolutely nothing! Mocktails and Mingle is about good ol’ fashion conversation. We want you to come ask questions from people in the field you aspire to work in, so you don’t need to bring your resume.
What do I need to wear? Clothes, of course. Don’t feel the need to come in a suit, but also don’t show up in your workout gear either. This is a casual event (complete with meatballs and cheese trays!) so dress in your business casual attire and you’ll be just fine.
How do I start conversation? If you already have a company or nonprofit in mind you’d like to speak with, awesome! Tables will be arranged so you can easily find and chat with them. If not, talk with one of the University Career Center staff members and we’ll connect you with someone we think is a good fit. Either way, sharks bite but employers don’t. Mocktails and Mingle is all about asking question to figure the skills you need for your career.
What should we talk about? Anything and everything you want to! You’re here to discover what you can do with your degree, so ask them how they got to this point in their career. Ask them what they look for on a resume; what skills you need to develop?
