Monica Can - Graphic Visual Communication

Monica Can, senior graphic visual communication major, is a user experience intern at Brand New Box in Lawrence, KS. (Fun fact: she is also one of our graphic design interns here at the Career Center!) Can says she has learned many things through her internship experience, but most importantly to communicate with her co-workers and present her design research to clients. 

“I was drawn into UI/UX design when taking a course on this topic,” she said. “I found the projects and problems I had to solve to be fascinating and challenging in a good way which led me to pursue this career path.” 

Can’s internship experience has helped her understand the workflow of a company which she says will prepare her for future jobs.

What have you learned through this experience?  

So many things! But most importantly I learned how to communicate with my co-workers and present my design research to clients.  

What drew you to this career path?  

Graphic design is my passion :) Haha. Joking aside, I was drawn into UI/UX design when taking a course on this topic. I found the projects and problems I had to solve to be fascinating and challenging (in a good way!) which led me to pursue this career path.  

How has this experience prepared you for your career?
