Students must meet the following criteria in order to be nominated for the 2022-2023 award:
- Currently enrolled at KU through Spring 2023
- Degree-seeking part-time/full-time student
- An undergraduate employee (Must be classified as a student hourly)
- Employed by the department for a minimum of six months part-time or three months full-time between June 1, 2022 and May 31, 2023 (anticipated)
- Maintain a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5.
Student Assistants or Federal Work Study Employees qualify for nominations.
Previous winners cannot be nominated again, but previous nominees are eligible.
Departmental supervisors can submit their nominations online. Only one nomination per student will be accepted. Supervisors may nominate up to three students. Departments may nominate multiple students, as long as no than three students are nominated by a single supervisor.
The deadline to submit nominations is January 31, 2023.
Call for nomination reviewers
The Student Employee of the Year committee will need participants, either KU staff or faculty, to serve as nomination reviewers. Each reviewer will be required to read, evaluate and score a select number of nominations using materials that will be provided, typically 5 to 7 nominations. Staff and faculty interested in becoming nomination reviewers need to submit their name and contact information to email@example.com.
Award ceremony and prizes
The winner and four finalists will be recognized during a ceremony in the spring semester. All nominees and their supervisors will be invited to attend. During the ceremony, the winner and four finalists will receive a solid brass Jayhawk. The Student Employee of the Year will be awarded $500 and entered into the National Student Employee of the Year competition. All nominees, the winner and the four finalists will receive a Jayhawk pin and a certificate of recognition.
